Makin Terang: Improving Work and Worker Representation in Indonesia

These project interventions have contributed to increasing transparency of working conditions and collective bargaining in garment factories in Indonesia, which as a whole have also contributed to growing labor union density and reducing inequality. In the long run, workers and trade unions are able to negotiate using a database that reflects the objective conditions of their factories, this is the basis for building a strong argument and increasing bargaining power in collective bargaining for better working conditions in the workplace.

Programme Period

2023 - 2025

About the Programme

The Makin Terang program is designed for three years, from 2023 – 2025. The aim of this program is to promote transparency in improving working conditions through social dialogue with data-driven advocacy in Garment, Textile and Footwear factories in Indonesia. Through data-driven advocacy, this program seeks to strengthen the bargaining position of trade unions at the factory level. By increasing the bargaining position of SP/SB at the factory level, it is possible to win the collective bargaining process. That way, improved working conditions can be felt by all workers.
